The first adjustment to the 1XI has been made with wicketkeeper William Mott joining us from Huddersfield League Championship side Denby. You may remember we faced Denby in the Sykes Cup first round last season and “Motty” was part of the Denby side that afternoon, taking three catches. Will has forged the same path as his older brother Charles Mott who played for us for a short period between 2014-15.
Motty came through the junior ranks at Cawthorne and went on to keep wicket for the first team during their final seasons in the Huddersfield League. He has also played for Scholes in the Bradford League and Skelmanthorpe. He’s keen and eager to push himself at a higher level.
Will’s arrival allows Louis Aspeling the chance to drop down into the 2XI and provide valuable experience and guidance to our up and coming juniors as well as bolstering the upper order with Harry Partington expected to make the step up to regular first team cricket.
Welcome to the club “Motty”!
