The first team ranks have been bolstered by the signing of opening bowler Rizwan Ali who joins us after a season at Townville in the Bradford League and makes his debut at home to Moorlands. The seamer also spent two seasons at East Brierley from 2018-2019.
Rizwan cut his teeth playing for Omars CC in the Bradford Evening League before moving to East Brierley in the 2018 season. It was a baptism of fire for his new side as a big influx of new signings struggled to gel at first which ultimately ended in relegation from the Bradford Premier League. Ali nonetheless contributed to the cause taking 22 wickets and scoring two half centuries; with a top score of 76 vs Scholes. He also enjoyed a starring role with the ball that season taking two wickets in a crushing defeat of Bradford & Bingley as they were dismissed for 20 with Rizwan taking two of the wickets (his teammate Ibrar Younas causing most of the damage with 7-10!)
During his second season, He put in some sparkling performances with the ball most notably taking 5-20 as his side beat eventual Champions Batley in 2019. Another five wicket haul saw him finish the season on a high by taking 5-8 in a dismantling of Keighley who were bowled out for 28 on the final day of the season. His two year term ended with a move to Townville ahead of the pandemic-affected 2020 season but he struggled to nail down an opening bowler position in a competitive team, often coming on as first or second-change.
A fresh challenge awaits Rizwan as we warmly welcome our new opening bowler who will complement Umer Yaqoob from the other end. Welcome to Delph Rizwan.
